Saudade is the key word to understand Portuguese soul, culture and art, inherent to traditional fado. It is both joy and melancholy – a tender recollection of people, moments, experiences, all that we miss, that is far away and gone. It brings nostalgia and longing, but also a kind of pleasure from the possibility of inner experience of renewed closeness, fullness and presence. It’s a very introverted feeling, often incomprehensible to those around.
Saudade is a very strong, beautiful and addictive feeling, put on a par with the feeling of love.
During the evening will perform well-known fadista from Lisbon – Sónia Santos together with musicians, Joao and Miguel.
Sónia sang in fado houses in Elvas as a child. After moving to Lisbon in 2007, she began to gain many admirers and her career really started taking off. Participant of The Voice of Portugal, winner of the 5th edition of Grande Noite Do Fado, has released two songs that are now available on streaming platforms – we encourage you to listen to the tracks “Mãos Cheias De Nada” and “Beijo Sem Nome”.
Along with Sónia will perform musicians Joao and Miguel.
She graduated in Iberian Studies with a Luzo-Brazilian specialization and continued her further education in Porto. As a lover of Portugal, she and her family moved there 5 years ago, just to be close to the ocean. . . Since then she has also taken up photography and interior decoration professionally because as she says:
“the light and the beauty here compelled me”

And that is not all!
On 12-16.09 we will also be visited by a local real estate agent, Bernardo Madeira, who has been working for Partners International clients for a year and a half.
