Warszawa, Mokotów, Tadeusza Rejtana
Apartment in a modernistic tenement house Mokotow
UPPER MOKTÓW | MODERNIST TENEMENT HOUSE FROM THE 1930s
Tadeusza Rejtana Street is located in Stary Mokotów between Puławska and Starościńska streets, oriented east-west. Its only block is ul. Sandomierska.
The street was named after Tadeusz Rejtan, an envoy from the Nowogródek region to the Partition Sejm, known for his attempts to prevent deputies from leaving the meeting room. During the occupation (from July 30, 1943 to January 17, 1945) the street was called Gaertnerstrasse (Ogrodników).
The tenement house belongs to one of the few examples of modernist Warsaw architecture of the 1930s: high storeys – ceilings over 3 m, a stone staircase or preserved woodwork elements, but it also reveals negligence in renovation and construction works in the city.
