Luz is a wonderful seaside town located 5 km from Lagos, close to the Costa Vincentina National Park. Although technically Luz is still part of Lagos, it is physically separated by a 2km wide cliff. This physical separation has allowed Luz to retain its identity as a small family village by the ocean, even though it has undergone a major transformation from fishing village to beachcomber’s paradise.

Although the ocean in Praia da Luz is generally calm, the large waves from the north-west from Cabo de São Vicente create amazing surfing conditions in Luz, mainly in winter. In addition, the clear blue waters and sandy bottom with interesting shelves and rock formations make Luz a natural underwater paradise for divers.

Encosta da Luz is the first sustainable project in Praia da Luz, offering eight modern luxury residences ranging from 350 to 480m2. Encosta da Luz is one of the last available areas in Praia da Luz, with privacy and panoramic ocean views.

The villas will be built to passive house standards and adapted to the weather conditions of the Algarve. Thanks to the use of the most advanced solar and water management systems, as well as the best insulation technologies, the maintenance costs of the houses will be reduced and a truly ecological project will be created.

According to the passive-solar design of the villas, their contemporary architecture will allow to control the penetration of the sun’s rays into the interiors – in summer creating shade, while in winter exposing the windows to direct sunlight.

Standard features of the residences include a private garden, an outdoor terrace and a private swimming pool. A heated swimming pool with automatic cover and jacuzzi is standard in some villas, while in others it can be added at the client’s request.

The developer has taken care of the health and comfort of the owners- therefore Encosta will be built with all-natural materials, including wood and stone floors with underfloor heating and eco-friendly, low-emission paints and wall coverings.
