RUSICKIEGO PALACE – UNIQUE REAL ESTATE IN THE CITY CENTER

ROOM LAYOUT:

THE BUILDING:

This is the best preserved, lavishly decorated residence – unique among the few buildings of its kind erected in Warsaw in the early 20th century.

The small palace, built in 1912, is located in the courtyard, just behind the townhouse. Built on a rectangular plan in eclectic style. The main entrance is framed by columns supporting a balcony; above the door is the Rawa coat of arms of the Rusiecki family. The founder of the palace was the Warsaw collector Stanislaw Ursyn Rusiecki. Most likely, the creator of both buildings was the building and architectural partnership of Jozef Napoleon Czerwinski and Waclaw Heppen.

The tenement house was profitable for the owner, while in the palace he kept his collections (miniatures, paintings, manuscripts, old prints, porcelain, engravings, textiles, militaria). He donated a large part of them to the National Museum in Cracow, while he gave his library collection and manuscripts to Warsaw archives and libraries. In 1944 the palace was to be donated, in accordance with Rusiecki’s will, to the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, which, given the political situation at the time, was not in a position to take over the gift. During the Warsaw Uprising, it housed an insurgent hospital.

The palace survived the war, and from 1954 it housed the headquarters of the Main Board of the Trade Union of Workers of Culture and Art – later the Federation of Trade Unions of Workers of Culture and Art.

LOCATION:

Close to the center is proximity to favorite cafes or restaurants, and extensive park recreational areas within walking distance – Pole Mokotowskie Park and Ujazdowski Park, as well as Łazienki Królewskie Park.

The building’s intimate rear courtyard is in close proximity to the historic Koszyki Hall. The location provides convenient access to public transportation – close to the station of the first subway line, streetcar and bus stops, so all the attractions of the city are within easy reach. If necessary, it is possible to rent a parking space in the nearby, aforementioned Koszyki Hall.
