Polish-British Academy of Warsaw

The Polish British Academy of Warsaw is an international school belonging to the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), an association of British international schools. The school has over 300 students representing 33 nationalities. The school is located in Warsaw’s Wilanów district, in three buildings at 75 Wiertnicza Street (grades 2 to 4), 43 (grades 5 to 8), and 36a (grades 0 to 1).

The school offers education in both the Polish and British systems. The goal of the Polish British Academy of Warsaw is to provide modern educational facilities for its students and their development. The school complex consists of a primary school, a preschool, a gymnasium, a sports field, and a playground.

The Polish British Academy of Warsaw also runs a bilingual preschool, Kids’ Academy. From the very beginning, its students have been exposed to English through contact with bilingual teachers and native speakers.

The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities. Students can participate in the following activities:

• basketball and soccer
• fencing
• art classes with basic drawing
• mathematics, at two levels: for mathematically gifted students and for those who need to consolidate their knowledge in a calm and safe environment
• sensory integration
• chess
• acrobatics
• modern dance

The Polish British Academy also conducts Cambridge English exams, along with subsequent stages of education. Placement tests are administered starting in the second year of primary school. Younger students can take the Young Learners (YLE) exams, which test language skills through a series of playful tests. Each exam consists of three sections: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

Students in grades 4 and 5 can take the Key English Test (KET). These are the first Cambridge exams designed for adults, but in this version, they are tailored to topics that appeal to school-age students. The KET exam consists of three parts, each testing reading and writing, listening, and speaking skills.

The final exam that Polish British Academy students can take is the Preliminary for Schools (PET). This exam certifies language skills at an intermediate level (B1). The certification also consists of three parts, testing reading and writing, listening, and speaking skills.
